Well, most of the time, with exceptions, I will be posting about things I'm thankful for and why. There will be deviations of course. Aren't there exceptions to every rule? Of course! So, I'll have deviations to do a particular theme or I will be thankful for something and it will carry over into more than one post, or I'll just post something random because I'm excited about it. Blogs are for fun right? Right. So, since blogs are supposed to be fun, I'll write on other things other than thankfulness sometimes. All posts will end with a Bible verse in the NKJV.

Deliverer

Well, I started at Calhoun last Thursday, and since then, I've been positively SWAMPED with homework. I am doing the mini-mester in Macroeconomics, so, I have 7 weeks to do a 15 week course, and I am doing a math, which, by definition, takes me forever to do. So, blame my lack of blogging on the fact that I get 15 minutes here, and fifteen minutes there to do something other than homework. Hahaha. But, I am on break right now, waiting until time for my econ class to start, so I am blogging! :) Next name on my list is Deliverer!

2 Samuel 22:1-3 "David sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: 'The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior—from violent people you save me.'"

So, when I think of God as a deliverer, the first thing I think of is the Hebrews being delivered by God out of bondage. But, there's so much more to Him being a deliverer than just the Hebrews being delivered by Him.
Christ delivers us out of bondage to sin and He delivers us into His family. When we're born, we're born spiritually dead (Ephesians 2) and He gives us new life in Him! He delivered us from the devil and sin and gave us life in Him. He redeemed us, He saved us, He rescued us.
It's such an amazing thing to think about! I want to challenge you all to spend five or ten minutes just thinking of all the things God has delivered you from. Here's a few things I thought of:
  • Sin
  • Hell
  • Satan
  • Despair
  • Death

  2. This may sound way more optimistic than I usually am, but I really hate focusing on the bad when it comes to faith. Not only should we think of things that God has delivered us from, but what He has delivered us to. Peace, hope, joy, a place to go when we're scared, confused or unsure. When we let Him deliver us from sin we should also let Him deliver us from our desire to sin, fill the voids that make us think the only way to fill that is with sinful things.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.
:) I'm always looking forward to your posts. Make me think. :)
